Today marks Yom HaShoah or Holocaust Remembrance Day. It’s a solemn day in which Jews around the world remember the horrors of the Holocaust but also share stories about family members who survived Hitler’s hellish camps. A day to remember the atrocities perpetrated on the Jewish people. It’s not a day of festivities or parties. We don’t hoist a beer or toast to those who perished. We simply remember. But something else can be said about the somber day. It’s a day to learn about the past so we can have a brighter future. For if we forget to learn from history, we surely will repeat it. Which leads me to Joe Biden.
Today, as he sits behind a wall, protected by men and women with guns, and with the Senate and Congress in walking distance also surrounded by gates and guns, President Joe Biden signed into law a slew of gun control bills. None of which will prevent criminals from stopping their illegal ways. The only people hurt by these laws are responsible and law-abiding gun owners.
History has shown us, especially Jewish history leading up to the Holocaust, that gun registration leads to gun confiscation. That’s exactly what Hitler did in the 1930’s. Jews of Nazi Europe were forced to register their guns. Months later, during Kristallnacht, Jewish stores were destroyed, countless individuals were murdered, and thousands sent to prison. Why? Because they couldn’t defend themselves. Only 4 years later, the Final Solution was in full effect. Jews had no way to defend themselves because their guns were taken from them.
Let’s take a look at what happened in Warsaw. The 300,000 Jews of Warsaw, Poland were herded into cattle cars. Those that remained formed a Jewish militia to combat their impending annihilation. Under the leadership of Mordechai Analeiwlicz, the Jews attacked Nazi patrols, gaining weapons to continue their struggle. They smuggled weapons into the Ghetto’s because and as the famous quote goes, “God created man. Sam Colt made them equal.”
“To fight, to die, for the honor of our people,” roared the Jews of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. And fight they did. Historians determined that the Jews of Warsaw lasted longer in their fight against the Nazis than both the French and Polish armies did. The Germans needed to bring thousands of men to combat the uprising. Imagine if 10,000 of the 300,000 had weapons. Imagine if gun control would not have happened. 6 million Jews were slaughtered. Murdered. All of them, after their guns were registered and then confiscated.
Now, President Biden has decided today, on Holocaust Memorial Day, to sign a slew of gun control measures by Executive Order. Gun laws, that once again, will not help save American lives but put the responsible and law-abiding gun owners in danger. Is there a bigger slap in the face to the Jews of America or to those Americans who cherish their liberty? Their God Given Right to self-defense. All gun control is racist. All gun control is anti-Semitic. All gun control is anti-freedom.
On this somber day, when we remember what the Nazi’s did to the Jews of Europe, we also now remember that history has been lost! We are repeating the exact thing that led to the annihilation of 6 million Jews. We are repeating the exact thing that led to the murders of countless other groups of people throughout Europe. Our grandparents and great grandparents fought and died combating the evils of the Nazi empire, which started with gun control.
Again, the Biden administration should be ashamed that on all days to pass unconstitutional gun control laws, they chose Holocaust Remembrance Day. The largest slap in the face to anyone who loves their freedom.
Like the generations before us, we must fight to ensure that these laws are abolished so history will not fully repeat itself.
